Op Art

My eighth grade art students always love creating these optical illusion drawings based on the Op art movement of the 1960's. We study an dlook at artwork from Bridget Riley and Victor Vassarely. A highly succesful project for all students.

Ceramic animal pinch pots

My advanced art students are currently in the middle of glazing these wonderful animals they created using a pinch pot as a base. These are some of the bisqued pieces the students created.

Fish watercolor painting

The advanced art students began their watercolor unit by creating a value scale using watercolors then they were asked to sketch several tropical fish, choose one and paint it. We then put together a classroom aquarium on our boards. Once done with their practice fish, they had to draw and paint their final painting.

Name Character Drawing

The 8th graders were asked to turn each of the letters of their name into either an animal, person, or object(s). The results are astonishing!
